Dr. Nouman Ali was a beloved Professor of Civil Engineering at Dalhousie University, an inspiring educator, and a devoted humanitarian. While he dedicated his professional life to teaching and research, his greatest passion was serving others. Dr. Ali tirelessly advocated for the people of Gaza, leading fundraising initiatives that provided clean water through water wells, emergency shelters, food assistance, and other life-saving humanitarian aid. He inspired countless individuals and community organizations to give generously and was always among the first to stand for justice, human rights, and compassion.
Remembering Dr. Nouman Ali
Dr. Nouman Ali's biography will live here — his life, his work, and the conviction with which he stood for Palestine and the people of Gaza.
Just as our brother Numan lived and dedicated his life to serving the cause of his Ummah—especially the vulnerable in Gaza—and passed away upon this path, we call upon everyone to honor his memory by contributing to the establishment of the Dr. Numan Ali Endowment (Waqf) in Gaza. This is not merely to serve as an ongoing charity (Sadaqah Jariyah) that benefits him in his grave after his passing, but to stand as a lasting tribute to a man who devoted his life to his faith and his Ummah. It is also a reminder to all doers of good that their righteous deeds do not perish with their physical bodies; rather, their noble legacy lives on in the words and hearts of people, even after they have departed from our world. Let each of us contribute whatever we can. And remember, the one who guides others to a good deed is rewarded just like the one who performs it.
مثلما عاش أخونا نعمان وكرّسَ حياته لخدمة قضية أمته وخاصة المستضعفين في غزة ومات على ذلك، فنحن ندعو الجميع لتخليد ذكراه والمساهمة في بناء وقف د نعمان عليّ في غزة، لا ليكون فقط صدقة جارية تنفعه في قبره بعد موته، وإنما ليقف مخلدًا ذكرى رجلٍ وهب حياته لدينه وأمته، وليعلم صانعوا المعروف أنَّ أعمالهم الصالحة لا تموت بموت أجسادهم، وإنما تبقى محمدتهم جارية على ألسنة الناس وفي قلوبهم حتى وإن رحلوا عن دنيانا. ليساهم كلُّ واحدٍ منا بما يستطيع، والدال على الخير كفاعله.
